In 1965 the society was forced to move to the Middlesbrough Theatre due to the closure of all the theatres in the Redcar area. In the ensuing years more modern shows were released for amateur productions and the society took full advantage staging such shows as 'Fiddler on the Roof' in 1980, 'Hello Dolly' in 1982, 'Oklahoma' in 1984 and so on.

In 1997 the production was 'Annie' followed by a new venture - 'It's A Musical World'.

Our then Musical Director Wayne Shellard, with Choreographer Alison Fordy took the society into a different sphere.

These shows are non-stop musical entertainment using material from all types of shows, charts, eras and styles, using movement and dance as well a choral settings and have proved to be very popular both with the cast and the audiences.

The last show in 2001 sold 96% of seats for the week. So popular was the first of these that the then President Elect of N.O.D.A. asked the society to perform the cabaret at his inaugural dinner in Newcastle - it seemed the society had hit on a winner.

The Millennium production of 'It's A Musical World' saw the return of some of our leading lights of yesteryear, Margaret Seaman, Nancy Chilver, Ellen Brolly, Shirley Hockborn, Stella Jones, Tessa Herbert and Maggie Thorp, performing the song (and dance) 'Mirror, Mirror' from 'Follies' - this was a hugely popular number and went to show that there is still enthusiasm for performing and that talent never dies.

The 2001 productions were 'The Best of It's A Musical World' followed by 'Mame'.

Later in the year on 21st July the society was invited to be the choir backing some of London's West End stars in the West End Extravaganza held at Middlesbrough Football Club's Riverside Stadium before an audience of 15,000, singing such songs as 'You'll Never Walk Alone', 'The Anthem from Chess', and selections from 'Les Miserables' among others. In fact three of our members were asked to perform solo spots in 'One Day More'. This was a great feather in our cap and a great honour. The proceeds from this event were all destined for the Teesside Hospice, a high profile local charity.

2002 was the society's 75th Anniversary and to mark the occasion we staged a 'Spectacular Anniversary Musical World' in the Middlesbrough Theatre in May.

In 2003 we were fortunate to be able to stage 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. This was a superb production being directed by Robin Sherringham and achieved 95% sales at the box office.

Also in 2003 we said goodbye to Wayne Shellard who had been Musical Director for several years and with his drive and talent had done much to change the direction of the society - we wish him well in his future ventures.

A new Musical Director, Stephen Sild, was appointed and has soon settled in to the society.

2004 saw the society staging two productions - firstly in February 'A Showstopping Musical World'.
This was directed and choreographed by Alison Fordy and musically directed by Stephen Sild.
The exciting programme was compiled by Alison, Maggie Thorp and Annette Simpson.

Our second production in May of 2004 was 'Half a Sixpence', directed by Martin Knight.

There is a marvellous spirit of comradeship in the society, as there has always been, and we look forward to the next 25 years when the younger members will be taking the society through in the same enthusiastic and 'professional' way that previous members have done.
